GUNS DOWN MECHANICSVILLE

Since 2017, The Urban Advocate has been working to reduce gun-related violence and provide trauma-response in NPU V communities. Our latest project focuses on Mechanicsville, a community that has been a gun-related crimes hot spot over the last several years. We ask for your active support to end gun-related violence. Scroll down for ways you can join in on the work.

1. TAKE OUR SURVEY!

Our survey focuses on your lived experiences with gun-related violence and trauma in our community. We want to hear from you and allow your experiences to inform policy, programming and resources brought to our community. Designed by us for us.

2. SHARE YOUR PICTURES OF OUR COMMUNITY

Post your photos, videos, and stories on our story map. The story map allows you to place your stories, videos, and photos exactly where they were taken and experienced. You can even record your story via voice recording!

Guns Down Mechanicsville: What We Do

This portion of our work was seeded by a grant from the Stadium Neighborhoods Community Trust Fund

The Stadium Neighborhoods Community Trust Fund was created by the City of Atlanta in 2017 after the sale of Turner Field and surrounding properties. A committee of community residents provides guidance and oversight of the $5 million fund.  The fund supports projects and activities that benefit the Atlanta neighborhoods of Mechanicsville, Peoplestown, Pittsburgh, Summerhill and the portion of Grant Park comprised of the named streets in the Turner Field Neighborhoods Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) study.
