Where trauma greets liberation!

The Urban Advocate® began as a metaphor for some who was willing to go against the grain and stand up for community against institutions. Over time we evolved to a collective of folks who are using our skills and experiences to combat gun-related violence in the City of Atlanta's Black neighborhoods.

Our practice

Guns Down Mechanicsville

Our flagship project focused on understanding acts of gun-related violence and ACEs in Mechanicsville.

Restorative Justice

Tailored initiatives to restore and reconnect communities after incidences of gun-related violence. Our role in this work focuses on individuals who commit acts of violence - typically youth and young adults under 24 years old.

Trauma Response

We provide a wholistic and community-centered  response to victims and neighbors after an incident of gun-related violence. Often reclaiming physical space as resistance to continued violence. These activities can be one-time or a series depending on the impact of the incident.
