Where trauma greets liberation!

The Urban Advocate® began as a metaphor for some who was willing to go against the grain and stand up for community against institutions. Over time we evolved to a collective of folks who are using our skills and experiences to combat gun-related violence in the City of Atlanta's historically Black neighborhoods.

Our practice

Trauma
Response

Initially designed as a network of support, trauma response reflects how we respond to incidences of violence immediately and long-term. Our role focuses on providing community care to those directly impacted (within a 3 block radius).

ATLlink

ATLlink is a personalized entry point connecting students facing disciplinary challenges and their families directly to experts and community partners providing therapeutic, supportive, and restorative services.

Restorative Justice

Tailored initiatives to restore harm and reconnect individuals to communities after incidences of gun-related violence. Our role in this work focuses on those who commit and experience the act of violence.

Guns Down Mechanicsville

Our flagship project focused on understanding acts of gun-related violence and ACEs in Mechanicsville.
